The NetApp 111-00626 is a four-port Fibre Channel I/O board carried under the X2056-R6 catalogue code. It adds four Fibre Channel ports to a NetApp controller, and the ports are configurable as initiators or targets: as initiators they attach back-end disk shelves or virtualised third-party arrays, and as targets they present LUNs to Fibre Channel hosts on the SAN. That dual role is what makes the card useful both for expanding back-end capacity and for adding front-end host connectivity, depending on how the ports are set in ONTAP. It installs in a controller expansion slot and is supported on the FAS3200 and FAS6200 generation of controllers along with the corresponding V-Series models.
