The 3Com SuperStack 3 Switch 4060 (3C17709) is a fixed-configuration Gigabit Ethernet switch built for backbone and server-farm aggregation. It packs 12 1000BASE-SX ports, 6 GBIC slots and 6 integrated 10/100/1000 ports into a compact 2U rack-mountable chassis, giving network managers a dense mix of fibre and copper Gigabit connectivity from a single unit.

A custom ASIC delivers 56 Gbps of multilayer switching capacity and forwarding rates above 40 million packets per second, with Layer 3 features including static routing, OSPF, RIP/RIPv2 and Routed Access Control Lists. Two Switch 4060 units can be paired using 3Com’s XRN stacking technology to build a resilient 48-port wirespeed Gigabit Layer 3 core, and hot-swappable, load-sharing power supplies and fan trays keep the switch running through a component failure.
