As the main processing module of the 7200/7200VXR chassis, the NPE-400 handles packet forwarding, routing protocol processing, and Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF) switching at up to 400,000 packets per second, and supports advanced IOS features including QoS, NAT, and access control lists. It is compatible with the full range of Cisco 7200 I/O controllers, including the C7200-I/O, C7200-I/O-FE, C7200-I/O-2FE/E, and C7200-I/O-GE+E, and is hot-swappable for maintenance without disrupting the rest of the chassis.
