The Huawei OptiX OSN 1500 is a compact member of Huawei’s OptiX OSN optical transmission family, sharing the same unified switching architecture as the larger OSN 3500 and OSN 8800/9800 platforms but scaled down to STM-16 level for smaller metro and access-layer transmission nodes. Like other OSN platforms, the OSN 1500 can operate as an MPLS-based packet device or as a conventional TDM (SDH) device, giving operators a migration path from legacy SDH transport toward packet-based transmission without a full platform swap. Its compact subrack is designed for locations where space and power are limited, such as street cabinets, small exchanges and access-ring sites, while still supporting the standard range of SDH ring and linear protection schemes used across the wider OptiX OSN family.
