Huawei OSN3500: OptiX OSN 3500 STM-64 hybrid MSTP optical transmission platform with 15 service slots for SDH and packet networks.

The Huawei OSN3500 is the OptiX OSN 3500, an STM-64 hybrid MSTP platform that carries SDH, PDH and Ethernet services on one chassis. Its unified switching design runs in TDM, packet (MPLS-TP) and hybrid modes.

The subrack has 15 service slots. With a high-capacity cross-connect board it switches 200 Gbit/s of higher-order and 20 Gbit/s of lower-order TDM traffic, plus 160 Gbit/s of packet traffic. Maximum counts per subrack are 12 STM-64, 60 STM-16, 56 GE and 16 10GE interfaces, with up to 504 E1s. Protection covers two-fibre and four-fibre MSP rings, 1+1 linear MSP and SNCP.

The subrack measures 722 x 497 x 295 mm and runs from -48 V or -60 V DC. Operators use it as a metro core and aggregation node, and many have used it to move traffic from SDH towards packet transport while keeping legacy E1 circuits.
