The IBM 32R1869 is a Nortel-designed Layer 2/3 Copper Gigabit Ethernet switch module for the IBM BladeCenter blade server chassis (also referenced under related IBM part numbers 32R1860 and 32R1866). It installs into a BladeCenter I/O module bay and provides internal switching between the blade servers in the chassis and external copper Gigabit Ethernet uplinks.

As a Layer 2/3 switch, it supports VLANs and IP routing between blade server NICs and the rest of the network, removing the need for a separate top-of-rack switch purely for intra-chassis connectivity. It is a like-for-like replacement or spare for BladeCenter deployments still running this generation of Nortel/IBM switch module.
