The Huawei SSN2SL0110 (SLO1) is an 8-way STM-1 optical interface board used in the OptiX OSN family of SDH multiservice transmission platforms, most commonly the OSN 3500. The board receives and transmits up to eight independent channels of STM-1 (155 Mbit/s) optical signal, carrying out photoelectric conversion between the fibre line and the equipment backplane, extracting and inserting SDH overhead bytes, and reporting line alarms and performance data to the network management system. Its higher port density compared with lower-way variants in the same family makes it useful for aggregating multiple STM-1 tributaries onto a single slot, which is common in access and aggregation-ring deployments. The board supports standard SDH multiplex section and sub-network connection protection schemes for resilient ring operation.
