The 3Com 3C16984 is a SuperStack II Switch 630, a 24-port 10/100Base-TX managed Ethernet switch from the SuperStack II range, providing autosensing Fast Ethernet ports with Layer 2 management features such as VLANs and Spanning Tree. The Switch 630 sat in 3Com’s late-1990s SuperStack II managed-switch line-up, used as a wiring-closet or small-backbone switch in networks that needed managed features but not the higher port density or stacking capability of the larger SuperStack II models. SuperStack II equipment predates the SuperStack 3 range and remains in service in a number of established legacy SME networks, where a genuine spare such as this restores switching capacity after a unit failure.
