Nortel NTNQ15AA (telecommunications transmission and networking portfolio) Telecom System Card / Module

The Nortel NTNQ15AA is a standard-tier four-port E1 function processor for the Passport 6400/7400 wide-area switching platform, part of the NTNQ-prefix family of function processors that also includes the six-port Ethernet and three-port E1 control-processor variants used across the same chassis range. It terminates four E1 (2.048Mbit/s) circuits per card into the Passport shelf’s switching fabric, giving the node additional tributary capacity for ATM, Frame Relay or TDM traffic carried over standard E1 trunks. As the ‘STD’ (standard) module it sits below any premium or enhanced variants built on the same physical card for additional protocol features, while providing the same core E1 termination and switching function. Passport 6400/7400 nodes built up their tributary capacity by fitting several function processors like this one across the shelf, and many of these nodes remain in service on legacy carrier and enterprise WAN infrastructure.
