Nortel AA1419013-E5 (telecommunications transmission and networking portfolio) Optical Transmission Module

The Nortel AA1419013-E5 is a 1000Base-SX SFP (mini-GBIC) transceiver, a hot-swappable Gigabit Ethernet interface module built to the IEEE 802.3z standard for multimode fibre. It transmits at 850nm over LC-terminated multimode fibre to a maximum reach of 550m at up to 1.25Gbit/s, and is designed to plug directly into the SFP cages on Nortel Ethernet switches and routers to bring up a fibre Gigabit Ethernet uplink or interconnect without needing a separate media converter. As an SFP-format module it is interchangeable across any Nortel platform using the same cage type, making it a common spare for engineers standardising fibre uplinks across a mixed estate of BayStack, Ethernet Routing Switch and Passport equipment. Multimode 1000Base-SX remains the standard choice for shorter in-building and campus fibre runs where single-mode’s longer reach is not needed, and genuine Nortel-coded optics are specified where a platform’s diagnostics or support agreement checks for a recognised vendor ID.
