The Nortel NTBP38GA is a V.11 function processor. In Nortel packet switching a function processor combines a processor with the physical interface for one service type, and V.11 is the balanced electrical interface standard used on X.21 and similar synchronous data circuits.

DPN-100 and the Passport family were Nortel’s packet and multiservice switching platforms, carrying X.25, frame relay, ATM and later IP services for carriers and large enterprises. A node is assembled from function processors, plus control processors and the shelf that carries them.
