The Nortel NTCA11NK is a MOR+ (Metro Optical Repeater Plus) card for Nortel’s OME 6500/OPTera Metro optical platform, built to the Universal MSA PreBlue/PostRed band split at 1510nm. It shares its NTCA-prefixed part numbering with the OME 6500 transponder, cross-connect and amplifier cards already catalogued in this range, and provides in-line optical amplification/regeneration to extend a DWDM span beyond what a single amplifier stage can reach, with the PreBlue/PostRed designation identifying where in the band-split chain this specific unit sits. Tech-Star supplies this as a secondary-market spare for maintaining or extending an existing OME 6500/OPTera Metro DWDM span. Amplifier stages of this kind are typically deployed at regular intervals along a long-haul DWDM span to compensate for fibre loss between terminals.
