The Alcatel-Lucent 3HE08428AA is an SFM5-12 (Switch Fabric Module) for the Nokia (formerly Alcatel-Lucent) 7750 SR-12 Service Router. The SFM provides the switching fabric that interconnects the chassis line cards, carrying traffic between IOM/IMM slots across the router’s backplane.

Fitted in the SFM/CPM slots of the 7750 SR-12, the SFM5-12 delivers the fabric bandwidth the SR-12 needs to run its 10GbE and higher-speed line cards at full capacity, and is typically deployed in redundant pairs for resilience. It underpins the router’s role as a carrier-grade IP/MPLS service edge and aggregation platform.
