The Cisco NM-16A is a 16-port asynchronous network module for Cisco’s modular access router platforms, including the 2600 and 3600 series. It is the lower-density sibling of the NM-32A, providing 16 RS-232 asynchronous serial ports for console/terminal server aggregation, dial-in/dial-out modem banks, or bulk connection of legacy serial devices, in deployments that don’t need the full 32-port density. It fits the network-module slot on the host router alongside other WAN, voice and Ethernet modules. This remains a routine spare for existing console-server or async-aggregation installations still in service, restoring capacity or replacing a failed module.
