The Cisco NM-1CE1U is a single-port channelized E1/ISDN-PRI network module with an unbalanced (75-ohm coax) line interface, for Cisco’s modular access router platforms including the 2600 and 3600 series. The unbalanced interface uses 75-ohm coaxial E1 wiring rather than the more common balanced twisted-pair convention, which was the standard in some legacy or Asia-Pacific carrier environments, so this module is specifically for sites wired to that convention. As with other channelized E1 modules, it lets the router split the E1 into up to 31 usable 64kbps timeslots for voice, data or PRI signalling. It remains a routine spare for existing deployments on unbalanced E1 infrastructure. Confirm your line interface requirement (unbalanced vs balanced) before ordering, since the two are not interchangeable without different hardware.
