The Finisar FTLF8528P3BCV-QL is an 8 Gigabit Fibre Channel SFP+ transceiver with an 850 nm source, rated for 150 metres over OM3 multimode fibre. It runs at 8.5 Gb/s with fallback to 4.25 and 2.125 Gb/s for use in a mixed-speed fabric.

The QL suffix identifies a QLogic coded build: the optics are the standard 8528 series shortwave part, but the EEPROM carries the vendor identifier that QLogic host bus adapters and switches check on insertion, so a generic module may be refused where this one is accepted. Modules of this class sit in storage area network links inside a single data centre, where the run is short and the fibre is multimode.
