The Finisar FTRJ8524P2BNV is a 4 Gigabit Fibre Channel SFP transceiver with an 850 nm source and an LC duplex connector, working over multimode fibre. It runs at 4.25 Gb/s with fallback to 2.125 and 1.0625 Gb/s for use in a mixed-speed fabric, which is how most 4 Gigabit storage networks were built out from an existing 2 Gigabit installation.

Short wavelength optics of this class are the standard choice for links inside a single data centre, where the runs are short and the fibre is multimode; longer inter-site links use the 1310 nm long wavelength parts instead. Finisar merged with II-VI in 2019 and the transceiver business now trades as Coherent. Tech-Star is UK-based and ships worldwide.
