The FORE Systems SCP-ASXHA is a Switch Control Processor module for the ForeRunner ASX family, fitted with 32 MB of DRAM and 4 MB of flash. The SCP runs the switch software and holds the configuration, so it is the card that determines which code version an ASX chassis can run. This variant was used across the ASX-200BX and ASX-1000 chassis, and a spare is normally kept alongside them because a failed SCP takes the whole switch out of service rather than a single interface.

The ForeRunner ASX switches it belongs to were FORE Systems’ main ATM platform, carried forward under Marconi after GEC bought the company in 1999.
