The HP 5070-5799 is a fan tray assembly for HP’s ProCurve Switch 6600 series, a Layer 2/3 top-of-rack switch range built on a Broadcom-based ASIC platform and sold in 24-port and 48-port 10/100/1000 and 10-Gigabit configurations. The fan tray provides the forced-air cooling the 6600 chassis needs for continuous operation in a rack environment, and is a standard field-replaceable part on switches that have been running for extended periods. The ProCurve 6600 series was aimed at data centre and campus top-of-rack deployments requiring higher port density and 10GbE uplinks than HP’s fixed 2000/3500 ranges offered.
