The HP A7393A is a StorageWorks SAN Switch 4/32, a 4Gb Fibre Channel fabric switch with all 32 of its ports active (rather than the lower-port-count licensed variants of the same 4/32 chassis), built on Brocade’s OEM’d switch hardware and sold under HP’s own StorageWorks branding. It provides SAN fabric connectivity for Fibre Channel-attached storage arrays and host bus adapters at 4Gb speed, and the fully licensed 32-port configuration means no additional port-activation licences are needed to use every port. HP’s StorageWorks Brocade-OEM switches were the standard SAN fabric hardware for HP storage deployments through the mid-to-late 2000s, and units like this remain in service supporting older 4Gb-and-below Fibre Channel storage environments that have not migrated to 8Gb or 16Gb fabrics.
