The HP J9150A is an X132 10G SFP+ LC SR transceiver. It is the short reach member of the X132 family, using 850 nm optics over multimode fibre with an LC duplex connector, and it is the module normally fitted for 10 Gigabit uplinks between switches in the same building or campus. Reach depends on the grade of multimode fibre installed, with OM3 and OM4 giving considerably more than legacy OM1 and OM2 cable.

Transceivers are the pluggable optics that decide the reach and media of a switch or router port, and HP sold them under the X120, X130 and X132 names across the SFP, SFP+ and later form factors. Reach and wavelength vary by model, from short range multimode inside a building to extended reach single mode across a metro span, and copper SFPs cover short RJ-45 runs. HP switches check the vendor code on the module, so matching the exact J-number matters.
