The HP J9726A is a 2920-24G switch, later sold under the Aruba name. The 2920 series sits above the 2530 in HP’s access range, adding stacking, modular uplink options and layer 3 static and RIP routing, which made it the usual choice for a campus wiring closet rather than a small office. This model provides 24 Gigabit access ports; uplinks are fitted as a separate module, so check what the unit you are replacing has in its expansion slot.

The HP and Aruba access switch families are among the most widely deployed managed switches in UK offices, which makes them a practical secondary market item. Models are distinguished by port count, whether Power over Ethernet is fitted and what uplink type is provided, and the J-number is the reliable way to tell them apart because the front panel legend often is not.
