The Huawei XPUb is a universal signalling and service processing board for the Huawei BSC6900 and RNC6900 base station controllers. It processes signalling and controls services inside the controller subrack, providing part of the capacity that manages calls, packet sessions and handovers across the connected GSM and UMTS radio access network. It is a processing board, not an optical cross-connect or transmission card, despite the superficial similarity in naming to other Huawei transmission platform boards. The XPUb installs in a PARC subrack together with the switching (SCU), clock (GCU) and interface (FG2/GOU) boards, and adding processing boards to a controller raises its overall traffic-handling capacity.
