The IBM 42V2132 is a 3.0-metre 12X Channel interconnect cable, supplied under IBM feature code 1840 (also cross-referenced to the equivalent feature 1865/45D5271). It is used to connect IBM Power Systems processor units to their RIO-2/HSL-2 or 12X-attached I/O expansion drawers, carrying the high-speed loop that lets a base system address additional PCI/PCI-X or PCIe slots, disk bays and communications adapters housed in a separate rack-mount enclosure. This cable family is usable interchangeably as a 12X Double Data Rate cable in place of the older 12X Single Data Rate cable on compatible GX adapters. Cable length matters for loop topology and rack layout, so specifiers should confirm the required 3.0m run against their existing rack elevation before ordering.
