The IBM 74Y3308 is an 8-slot small-form-factor DASD backplane and drive cage, CCIN 2BD6, part of the EJ01 storage-backplane feature fitted to IBM’s Power7/POWER7+ server range including the 8202-E4B and 8205-E6B. The EJ01 configuration provides eight SFF drive bays with dual-controller RAID support and an external SAS port, and this backplane is the physical bay assembly that configuration is built around. Power7-era hardware remains in active enterprise service, and a genuine spare backplane such as this one is a routine requirement for restoring a chassis to full drive-bay capacity after a backplane fault.
