The IBM 74Y3278 is an 8-slot DDR3 memory riser card, feature code 5604, CCIN 51CC. Along with FRU 74Y3424 and the paired VRM part 74Y2754, it is the memory-expansion riser fitted to IBM’s Power 720/740 (8205-E4B/E6B) POWER7 servers. It adds eight DDR3 DIMM sockets beyond the base system board’s memory capacity, plugging into the CEC and carrying two VRMs of its own.

POWER7-era hardware remains in active enterprise service, and a spare memory riser is a routine requirement for restoring full memory capacity after a riser fault or expanding an existing system’s memory footprint. Tech-Star supplies IBM Power Systems memory risers from the UK and ships worldwide.
