The Marconi 218-0107-000 is a 4-port 1000Base-SX Gigabit Ethernet interface module for the Marconi (Ericsson-Marconi) ESR-5000/6000 routing switch platform, providing four multimode fibre uplinks into the chassis. It sits in the same numbering block as the 2-port variant (218-0123-000) and the platform’s 10/100Base-TX and ATM OC-3/OC-12 modules, all of which populate the ESR-5000/6000 chassis alongside its Series II Supervisor card. The ESR-5000/6000 Series II line, sold under the Ericsson-Marconi brand, is still found in older telecom and enterprise routing installations that have not migrated off it, and this higher-density uplink module supports sites needing more Gigabit fibre capacity per chassis than the 2-port version provides.
