The NetApp 111-00779 is a four-port 8Gb Fibre Channel host bus adapter supplied under the X1927A-R6 catalogue code. It fits a PCIe slot in the controller and provides four 8Gb Fibre Channel ports that can be configured individually as initiators or targets, so a single card can attach back-end shelves and virtualised arrays or present storage to SAN hosts depending on how ONTAP sets each port. The step to 8Gb doubled the per-port rate over the previous 4Gb generation while retaining backward negotiation to 4Gb and 2Gb, which allowed controllers to be refreshed ahead of the fabric around them. It is supported on the FAS3210, FAS3240 and FAS3270 controllers and their V-Series equivalents. Optics are SFP+ modules fitted to the card.
