The Nortel AL2001E15 is a Business Policy Switch 2000 (BPS2000), Nortel’s stackable Layer 2/3 Ethernet switch built around a base 10/100 port group with support for interchangeable Media Dependent Adapters (MDAs) to add Gigabit copper, fibre or GBIC uplinks. It integrates with Nortel’s BayStack stacking architecture, letting a BPS2000 unit join a mixed stack of BayStack and BPS2000 switches under one management identity, and adds policy-based QoS features aimed at converged voice-and-data deployments. It was widely deployed as a wiring-closet switch in enterprise networks through the 2000s, and a substantial installed base remains active today. Confirm stacking-cable, MDA and firmware compatibility against the rest of an existing deployment before ordering.
