The Nortel AL2012A17 is a BayStack 350-24T, a stackable Ethernet switch with 24 10/100BASE-TX autosensing ports from Nortel’s BayStack 350 series, an earlier generation than the later 450/470 ranges with a comparable stacking architecture and a lighter Layer 2 feature set. It served as a wiring-closet switch in enterprise deployments through the late 1990s and 2000s, and a portion of that installed base remains in service today, typically in smaller or budget-constrained networks. Confirm stacking-cable and firmware compatibility against the rest of an existing 350-series stack before ordering, since Nortel’s BayStack generations are not fully cross-compatible.
