The Nortel DR4001A66 is a WLAN Security Switch 2270, offering 2 Gigabit Ethernet fibre uplink ports and supporting up to 36 access points (Nortel WLAN AP 2230 or 2231) in a controller-based wireless LAN architecture, with an integrated hardware encryption module for securing wireless traffic. It is the controller half of Nortel’s WLAN Security Solution, centralising configuration, roaming and security policy for the access points beneath it.

This platform remains in service on legacy enterprise wireless deployments built around Nortel’s WLAN Security Switch architecture, and the sibling AP 2230 product (DR4001071, also carried by Tech-Star) is a companion access point from the same solution.
