The Nortel DS1304002 is a 2-port DS3 Media Dependent Adapter (MDA) for the 8672 ATM switching module in the Passport 8600 chassis.

The MDA plugs onto the 8672 ATM baseboard to provide two DS3 (44.736 Mbit/s) ATM interface ports, giving the Passport 8600 chassis wide-area ATM connectivity at the DS3 rate. As a port adapter rather than a standalone card, it must be fitted to a compatible 8672 ATM switching module already installed in the chassis.
