The Nortel NT0H31AF is an Optical Metro 5200 circuit pack. The OM 5200, originally sold as OPTera Metro, is a DWDM transport platform with sixteen traffic carrying slots, filled with optical channel and transponder circuit packs plus the shelf processor and service channel cards that manage them.

Optical Metro and OPTera Metro systems, later carried forward by Ciena, are still transporting traffic in metro and regional fibre networks. Individual circuit packs are the normal unit of maintenance, and matched spares are what restore a protected path or extend a shelf that is already installed.
