The Nortel NT0H43HA is an Equipment Inventory Unit (EIU) card for Nortel’s OPTera Metro / Optical Metro 5100 and 5200 DWDM transport shelves, part of the documented NT0H-prefixed circuit-pack family used across that platform. The EIU is a housekeeping card rather than a traffic-carrying one: it holds an inventory of the equipment fitted in the shelf and reports it to the shelf processor for provisioning, alarm correlation and inventory-management purposes, so its failure does not interrupt live traffic but does degrade the shelf’s self-reporting. OPTera Metro shelves remain in service across a number of established metro optical transport networks, and genuine EIU spares are needed to keep a shelf’s management and inventory reporting accurate.
