The Nortel NT0H57BB is an Optical Metro 5200 circuit pack. The OM 5200, originally sold as OPTera Metro, is a DWDM transport platform with sixteen traffic carrying slots, filled with optical channel and transponder circuit packs plus the shelf processor and service channel cards that manage them.

The Optical Metro range multiplexes many client services onto a single fibre pair, with each wavelength handled by its own circuit pack. Because wavelength and client rate are set by the card rather than in software, the exact part number and optical variant decide whether a spare will drop straight into a working shelf.
