The Nortel NT5D97AD is a Dual DTI2/PRI2 card with ENET 60-channel support (DDP2) for Meridian 1 systems, providing two 2.048Mbit/s (E1-rate) digital trunk interfaces that can each be configured as a DTI2 (digital trunk) or PRI2 (E1 primary rate ISDN) circuit from the same card. The ENET 60-channel designation refers to the card’s ability to carry 60 usable timeslots across its two E1 ports into the Meridian 1’s Enhanced Network (ENET) fabric, giving a single card slot a substantial amount of trunk capacity compared with the platform’s single-port trunk cards. This dual-personality DTI2/PRI2 design let sites mix digital tie-line trunking and ISDN primary rate access from the same hardware, reconfigured in software rather than needing separate card types for each trunk mode. It is the same part family as the NT5D97ADE5 variant used on later Meridian 1/Succession systems, sharing the same DDP2 function.
