The Nortel NTDK23BA is a Fiber Receiver card for Meridian 1 systems, one half of a fibre optic remote-link pair used to extend a Meridian 1 network loop or superloop connection over plastic multimode fibre where copper cable runs would exceed Nortel’s specified distance limit. This receiver variant sits at the far end of the fibre run, converting the optical signal back to the electrical loop signal the receiving shelf’s network card expects, and is specified for a link distance of up to 30ft/10m over plastic multimode fibre, a short-haul optical link intended for extending a loop connection within or between adjacent equipment rooms rather than a long-haul telecoms fibre run. It works as a matched pair with a corresponding transmitter-side card at the originating shelf.
