The Nortel NTT870AD is a Dispersion Slope Compensation Module (DSCM), type 1, C-band, rated to compensate the chromatic dispersion and dispersion slope accumulated over approximately 30km of standard single-mode fibre. DSCM units of this type are used in Nortel’s Optical Metro and optical long-haul transmission systems to correct signal degradation over a fibre span, allowing the transmitted optical signal to be recovered cleanly at the receiving end.
