The HP 013224-001 is a 256MB battery/flash-backed write cache module for HP’s Smart Array P410 RAID controller, a common controller fitted to ProLiant G6/G7-generation servers. The write cache module plugs into the P410 controller board and provides the memory that lets the controller safely accelerate write operations using write-back caching, with the module’s backup power protecting in-flight cached writes against a sudden power loss. Without a working cache module, a P410 controller typically drops to a slower write-through caching mode or reports a cache/battery fault, so replacing a failed unit restores full write performance and protected caching on the array.
