The HP 349471-003 is an empty hot-plug drive tray caddy for HP ProLiant small-form-factor (SFF) drive bays, supplied here without a drive fitted, and cross-referenced under the related part number 404701-001. The caddy is the carrier that a 2.5-inch SAS or SATA hard drive clips into before it slides into a ProLiant server’s hot-plug bay; without a matching caddy, a bare drive cannot be fitted to the server at all, which makes a spare caddy a routine purchase when adding a drive to a bay that shipped empty or when a caddy has been damaged or gone missing.
