Netgear SW502: compact 2-port 10/100Mbps Ethernet switch.

The Netgear SW502 is a compact two port 10/100Mbps Ethernet switch, the smaller sibling of the SW507 and covered by the same Netgear installation guide.

It was designed for the point in a small network where two segments or two devices run at different speeds, switching between a 10Mbps and a 100Mbps port rather than forcing the whole segment down to the slower rate. Listings for this part also record a BNC coaxial connector for attaching legacy 10BASE2 thin Ethernet, so check the rear panel against your requirement. The unit is unmanaged, needs no configuration and runs from an external power adapter.

Switches this small are now mainly of interest as spares for industrial and building control installations where a working dual speed bridge, or a surviving 10BASE2 segment, is still part of the design.
