Netgear FSM7328S: ProSafe 24-port 10/100 Layer 3 managed stackable switch with 4 gigabit ports.

The Netgear FSM7328S is a ProSafe Layer 3 managed stackable switch with 24 auto-sensing 10/100 ports and four 10/100/1000 ports, the gigabit group providing hot-swappable SFP capability for fibre uplinks.

Layer 3 is the distinguishing feature: the switch routes between VLANs itself using static routes, RIP and OSPF, so a segmented network does not need a separate router for internal traffic. It also carries 802.1x port based authentication and access control lists, and stacks through the front panel gigabit interfaces so several units are managed as one device at 1U each. The non-blocking design forwards at full wire speed on all ports at once.

The 48 port FSM7352S is the larger member of the same family. This range suited wiring closets that had outgrown Layer 2 switching but did not warrant chassis equipment.
