Netgear FS752TPS: ProSafe 48-port 10/100 stackable smart switch with Power over Ethernet and 4 gigabit ports.

The Netgear FS752TPS is a ProSafe stackable smart switch carrying 48 Fast Ethernet ports with Power over Ethernet plus four gigabit ports for uplink and stacking.

The PoE ports supply 802.3af power to telephones, access points and cameras directly over the data cable, which removes a local power supply from every endpoint, and the gigabit group includes SFP capability for fibre runs back to a core switch. Smart switch management gives VLANs, quality of service, link aggregation, rate limiting and IGMP snooping through a web interface rather than a full command line, and stacked units are administered on a single address.

This model was a common choice for IP telephony rollouts in schools and mid-sized offices, where powering the handsets from the switch was the whole point of the specification.
