NetApp X1139A-R6: dual-port 10GbE unified target adapter, PCIe, configurable for 10GbE or 8Gb Fibre Channel.

The NetApp X1139A-R6 is a dual-port 10 Gigabit unified target adapter on a PCI Express card. Each of its two ports can be configured to run 10 Gigabit Ethernet or 8Gb Fibre Channel, set in software rather than by changing hardware, which is what the unified designation refers to. In Ethernet mode the ports serve NFS, CIFS and iSCSI clients and can carry Fibre Channel over Ethernet; in Fibre Channel mode they present LUNs to a conventional SAN fabric. That flexibility suits sites migrating between transport protocols, since the same adapter covers both sides of the transition. It installs in a controller expansion slot and takes SFP+ optics matched to the mode selected. It is supported on the FAS3200 and FAS6200 controller generation.
