The ZyXEL GS-2024 is a 24-port managed Layer 2 gigabit Ethernet switch with two SFP slots for fibre uplinks, housed in a 1U rack-mount chassis. All copper ports run at 10/100/1000 Mbit, and two of them are shared with the SFP sockets so the uplinks can be taken to fibre without losing managed capability. The feature set covers 802.1Q VLANs, spanning tree and rapid spanning tree, link aggregation, IGMP snooping, 802.1X port authentication, bandwidth control, broadcast storm control and port mirroring, administered through a web interface, console, Telnet or SNMP. It was a common floor-level aggregation switch in mid-sized offices where gigabit to the desk had been specified but a full Layer 3 platform was not justified. Units are supplied refurbished.
