The Ericsson MMU2 D R3 is a modem and modulator unit revision within Ericsson’s MINI-LINK point-to-point microwave transmission system, part of the same MMU2 product family that includes the B, C and E revisions. Like other MMU2 units, it modulates digital traffic onto the radio-frequency carrier for transmission and demodulates the received signal on a MINI-LINK hop, with capacity and frequency bandwidth software-configurable up to its rated maximum.

It plugs into an Ericsson AMM equipment magazine alongside a node processor and power units, interfacing to an outdoor radio unit (RAU) to complete a microwave transmission hop. The “D” revision with “R3” hardware/firmware release distinguishes it from earlier MMU2 B/C builds and later E-series units.
