The Huawei H801SCUN is a Super Control Unit (SCUN) main control board used in the SmartAX MA5680T and MA5683T GPON OLT platforms. It provides 480Gbit/s switching capacity in active/standby redundant mode and supports access for up to 8192 subscribers, acting as the core system control, service switching and traffic aggregation point for the whole chassis. As with other boards in the H801SCUx control family, the SCUN also serves as the management and control core for integration with the wider network management system, communicating with service boards over the master/slave serial port and an in-band GE/10GE channel to configure, manage and control the device, and implementing basic routing protocol functions for the OLT. The H801SCUN is slot-compatible with the H802SCUN variant, giving operators some flexibility when sourcing replacement or upgrade boards. Because the SCUN is the main control board for the entire OLT chassis, a fault here typically causes a full or partial service outage, making tested spares valuable for field replacement in GPON access network deployments.
