The Juniper PCG is a PFE (Packet Forwarding Engine) clock generator board used inside Juniper M-series router chassis. It supplies the internal timing signal distributed across the router’s Flexible PIC Concentrators (FPCs) and switching fabric, and is a hot-pluggable field-replaceable unit rather than a customer-facing network interface card. On chassis that use this board, PCGs are typically installed in a redundant pair, each providing a 125-MHz system clock reference for the packet forwarding engines and switch fabric.
