The Cisco CSS506-PWR-AC is an AC power supply for the Cisco CSS 11506 Content Services Switch chassis, part of the CSS 11000 series load-balancing and content-switching platform. The CSS 11000 family provided Layer 4-7 server load balancing, SSL offload and content-aware traffic distribution ahead of application server farms, and the 11506 is the larger 6-slot chassis in that range.

As with most carrier-class chassis of this type, power supplies are field-replaceable and often deployed in a redundant pair so a single PSU failure does not take the switch offline. CSS 11000-series deployments are now a legacy platform, but some estates continue to run them and need genuine power supplies to keep an existing chassis operating.
