The Cisco WS-X45-SUP6-E is a Supervisor Engine 6-E for the Catalyst 4500 E-Series modular switch chassis, fitted with 2 ports of 10-Gigabit Ethernet via X2 uplinks and integrated twin-Gigabit downlink ports on the supervisor faceplate itself. The Supervisor 6-E provides the switching fabric, control-plane processing and uplink connectivity for a Catalyst 4500 E-Series chassis, and is an enhanced-fabric supervisor generation built for higher-throughput core and distribution roles than the earlier Supervisor 6 and 7 variants. It fits the E-Series enhanced-fabric chassis rather than the earlier non-E-Series 4500 chassis. This is a routine spare for restoring or upgrading switching capacity on an existing Catalyst 4500 E-Series deployment.
